Upcoming College Fairs

Accreditation Visit Next Week

We look forward to hosting visitors from our accrediting body—the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Independent Schools (CIS)—which we are working closely with as we prepare for our re-accreditation process in 2020. A globally recognized standard of excellence, NEASC/CIS Accreditation attests to a school's high quality and integrity.

We also wish to thank the many parents who have generously volunteered their time as we progress through this lengthy process. As a reminder, re-accreditation will be the main topic at our first High School Parent Coffee on Wednesday, September 26, from 8:30–9:30 in Casa Fleming.

FCD Prevention Works Meeting for Parents on September 26

This is a reminder that prevention specialists from FCD Prevention Works will be at TASIS from September 25–28 and that parents of all Middle School and High School students are invited to attend an open meeting in Monticello 1 (on the main TASIS campus) on Wednesday, September 26, from 19:00–19:45.

2018 Terry Fox Run Coming Up

High School students and faculty members are excited to take part in the School’s second-annual Terry Fox Run on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 10. The run is designed to honor the legacy of international hero Terry Fox—an extraordinary athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist who in 1980 embarked upon a Marathon of Hope across Canada after losing his right leg to cancer three years earlier, ultimately covering 5,373 kilometers (or 127.3 marathons) in just 143 days before the spread of his cancer forced him to abandon his quest and claimed his life.

For the run on October 10, Athletic Director Sonny Lim and Varsity Cross Country coaches Greg Birk and Danny Schiff have challenged students to complete as many 500-meter laps as possible on the School’s Grotto Cross Country course in a 45-minute window and to help raise at least CHF 5,373 for cancer research. Students can support this vital cause by purchasing Terry Fox t-shirts for CHF 6 in advance (or CHF 10 on the day of the race) and by finding sponsors who are willing to pledge a set amount of money for each lap completed.

Any parents who would like to learn how they can be involved in this community-building event can contact Mr. Lim at sonny.lim@tasis.ch.
